Mike & Janel Hernandez
Lead Pastors
Mike and Janel Hernandez became the Lead Pastors at Highpoint on October 1, 2025. Previously, Mike served as the Pastoral Care Pastor at Church of the Harvest in Olathe, KS (a suburb of Kansas City).
Mike and Janel have a passion for discipleship and reaching the next generation. They want to see young families fulfilling their potential. They believe building strong marriages strengthens families, churches and communities.
Mike and Janel have four children (who live in other states) and enjoy every moment spent together as a family. Mike enjoys running and watching sports. Janel enjoys crocheting and reading.Marv and Sylvia Feigenspan came to Iowa City in August 1988 to plant Living Word Christian Fellowship (currently Connect Church). They began as a Bible Study in their home with only one couple. As the group grew, they moved from their home to a motel conference room, to a downtown Iowa City location, to the Iowa City Recreation center, and to a 20-acre campus which is their current location.
Marv came to Iowa City with an entrepreneur’s grace to establish business and ministries, and with a passion to build strong lives, families, businesses, and ministries
Sylvia, Marv’s wife of 56 years passed away, and in 2024 he and Erma Stogsdill were married. Marv has three children, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Marv enjoys gardening, fine woodworking, and watching the sun come up in the morning.
